# Security

> Security audits, code review practices, and administrative safeguards

Proportion's smart contracts have undergone an independent security audit. The report covers the revision and scope identified in it; it does not establish that every later change has been audited. Manual review and automated analysis supplement independent audits.

## Administrative security

The contracts are administered by a multisig wallet through a 72-hour timelock. Every administrative change is queued onchain first and can take effect only after the delay, so anyone can see it before it applies.

| Waits 72 hours in the timelock | Takes effect immediately |
| - | - |
| Upgrades of `MainVault` and `ChallengeVault`, ownership changes, factory and integration changes such as `setRelayer` and `setForwarder`, `setRiskConfig`, adding markets and raising leverage caps, unpausing | Pausing the vault, cancelling a queued change, disabling challenge checkout, removing a market, lowering leverage caps |

The risk engine's relayer cannot upgrade the contracts, change parameters or unpause.
